VIRTUAL LEARNING

Lower School Parents,

It is our hope that you have found time to enjoy your families while on Spring Break. The UA staff is working diligently to make the transition from school to online-learning as smooth as possible for our students. We know that you have received multiple emails in regards to our extended break, and know we will share what information we have when available, but please make time to read through this email as well when possible!

If you haven’t heard, State Assessments have been canceled, but that doesn’t absolve us from the responsibilities we have to help students learn and grow. We need your help and support to make this happen as we know that this will be a fluid process that requires constant feedback and adjustment by all parties involved. Our staff has been working hard to develop and implement an on-line learning curriculum that continues instruction and allows students to engage in learning during this time we are out of school.

Please take note of the information to look for from your child’s teacher.

ï‚· Beginning the morning of Monday, March 23rd, you will receive email communication from the teacher explaining how to access the lessons for each day of the week

ï‚· Teachers will have their University Academy websites updated and their calendars will reflect daily/weekly assignments so that students can easily view what is assigned and when assignments are due

ï‚· Teachers will also use a secondary or back-up method to communicate regarding specific assignments. That may happen through Class Dojo, Google Classroom, or Zoom to name a few examples.

ï‚· Instruction will occur in various forms. Examples may include, but are not limited to: videos, learning platforms such as Study Island, Raz Kids, Zearn, and/or uploaded practice sheets.

ï‚· Teachers will provide feedback on specific assignments and keep a log of students that have not completed lessons from each week.

ï‚· All teachers will include “online office hours” on their UA website noting when they will be available to respond to parent/ student queries. These may be communicated through various formats such as email, DOJO, etc. Expect a response within a 24 hour time frame, Monday-Friday, just as during the regular school week. Note: Questions asked after hours may not be responded to until working hours.

We thank you for your continued commitment to your child’s learning. This is a new venture for us all, and through teamwork we will get through it together. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the Lower School Administration Team. Be safe and know that we are hoping for the best along with you.
